The Mountain

Thursday I visited Little Rock to move a carload of my belongings into my summer home. As a result, I spent the night and familiarized myself with a few local streets. On Friday I woke up late and decided to do the single most exhilarating activity on my summer to-do list. Pinnacle mountain, the mountain I'd neither heard of nor had any desire to climb until my friend Carlos told me about it. I'm an outdoors-man at heart, I went backpacking twice a month every month in Jr. High until I was strong enough to lead an 8 man crew at Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico. In comparison Pinnacle is just an ant hill, however it was still the best thing I could have found time to do that day. My set goal for the next 2 months is to ascend Pinnacle 10 times, on and off the beaten trail. You can expect many nature pictures on my blog from my time off.

Razorback's New Secondary

I'm generally not a painter of the artistic nature, therefore painting the razorbacks is a new discipline for me. Perhaps symmetry should be an improvement for my "free hand". Regardless I'm enjoying spending my free time to continue sharpening my mind. I'm planning on cutting this out painting the edges black and then hanging it on a door. I contemplated making this into 3D art by making it into a giant cutout Hog, after I made the body and legs pieces. Then I remembered that I'm moving into a smaller apartment in the Fall and I stopped with the head.

Razorback Painting

I finished this bit of Art up this week.
Can't wait to get it up on the wall of my new apartment!

Preparing to Move

Welcome to my blog! I'll be posting about my experiences, in and out of my internship, on a weekly basis. I plan to help you to see how I'm coping with new stresses, work in general, and even a few things that I'll be doing in my spare time.
I've spent several hours in the past couple of weeks mentally preparing myself to move my "tons" of furniture into storage. That idea in itself has me completely exhausted. On the flip side, I've been researching the area around my cousins house and I'm both excited and worried about finding the time to enjoy myself. I'm hoping to be able to go up to Pinnacle mountain once a week or so, because it's 8 minutes away from the house, just to get some nature back into my life. And I even researched a few places that I could take a pretty lady out for a date, if such a lady came into my life.
My plan is to move a few items up to Little Rock on Thursday of this week, May 15. I've never been to the house in which I'll be living, therefore I'd like to see what I need to bring so that when packing up my apartment I'll have better knowledge of what needs to get packed where. My final move out/in day, from one place to another, is Saturday May 24; this will be a family ordeal.
My mentor certainly has his concerns about me moving to Little Rock and shared them with me when I visited his house for dinner one evening. He told me, "Little Rock is a mean city", and "My daughter won't be coming to visit you there", of whom I am a good friend. My mentor is a huge role model for me and a lot of times I feel as if I am apart of his family. I take his advice into consideration and am still comfortable with moving forward with this internship.
This blog is 2 weeks in advance of my first day at The Capital. I still have plenty to keep me busy with preparing for that. And one of my biggest questions is, What do I bring to wear on the job? I have plenty of dress shirts and ties and dress pants. Do I even need them? I'll figure it out! Have a great week!
